Scholarships and Bursaries

Anytime the guidance office is notified of a scholarship or bursary opportunity for graduating students, we post it on the scholarships and bursaries page…. take a look at the menu on the left side of the page. This list is kept updated throughout the school year, but only contains scholarships and bursaries for which we receive information from the donors / sponsors.

There are many, many more scholarships and bursaries available. Check with your parents’ employer and read the websites for the university or college for which you are applying. Also check websites like and studentscholarships.orgScholarships Canada and there are many others out there. The money is there; you just have look for it.

College and University Application Tutorials

Grade 12’s applying to an Ontario college or university for the 2019/2020 school year should sign up for an application tutorial to take place in November.

College application tutorials will take place during periods 2 and 4…. choose one.

University application tutorials will take place during periods 1 and 3… choose one.

There are limited spaces available for each session in the library seminar room, so sign up in guidance early! Students who don’t sign up in advance may not be able to attend.

Please see Mr. Stryker or Mrs. Metcalfe if you are unable to attend.

Grade 12’s 2018-2019

Will you be in grade 12 at Madill during the 2018-2019 school year? Would you like to receive text message notifications of important grade 12 events / information (postsecondary information sessions, scholarship opportunities, course add/drop dates, application tutorials, etc.)?

OSAP and Financial Planning

There will be an OSAP and financial planning information session coming up in the spring. If are in grade 12 and going to college or university next year, listen for this very important session to be coming your way.

Maclean’s Student Life Expo

Maclean’s Student Life Expo connects graduating high school students and their parents with university and college recruiters, career counsellors, volunteer opportunities, skilled trades, and numerous other pathway opportunities. Plus, one student will win $5,000 towards their tuition!

Where: Metro Toronto Convention Centre, North Building, Constitution Hall

When: October 28 and 29, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost: $10 per person, but guidance can request free tickets for students and parents. Speak to Mr. Stryker if you would like free tickets requested for you.

Study and Go Abroad Fairs

The Study and Go Abroad Fair is an international university and student travel expo, offering students an opportunity to learn about degree, certificate and diploma programs abroad, as well as information about internships, volunteer programs, work abroad, and adventure and language travel.

A Study and Go Abroad Fair will take place in Toronto on February 28, 2016. Go to for more information.

The Study and Go Abroad Fair is Canada’s largest international university and student travel expo and offers students a unique opportunity to learn about undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, and certificate and diploma programs abroad. The expo will also include a Student Travel Zone, with organizations offering internships, volunteer programs, work abroad, and adventure and language travel.

Note: All grade 12’s will have an interview in guidance during semester one to help with postsecondary planning. Please be prepared for your interview with ideas and questions.

Sem 2 Dual-Credit College Applications Now Available

Attention Grade 11 and 12 students:

Semester 2 Dual-Credit College applications are now available in the Guidance Office. Students who are interested in trying out college one day per week while they are still in high school are invited to apply. The program is offered free of charge and transportation is provided.  Participating colleges include:  Conestoga, Fanshawe, and Lambton. If you would like to know more about the Dual-Credit College courses that are available or about how to apply, please stop by the Guidance Office today.

College Application Tutorials

Students planning to attend an Ontario college starting in 2015 are invited to application tutorial sessions.

When:  Tuesday, November 18th, 2014 –  period 4  or  Wednesday, November 19th, 2014 – period 2

Note:  due to weather, the cancelled Tuesday session has been rescheduled for Monday, November 24th – period 4

Where:  Library Seminar Room


Please come to the Guidance Office to sign up for the session you wish to attend.  The session will start right at the beginning of the designated period and will take approximately 1 hour.  Students should inform their teachers that they will be missing class in advance of the session.


Important Notes:

– Ontario college application deadline is February 1st, 2015 at but it is recommended that students complete their application prior to the holidays

– students will require their OEN number for their application; this is available on their report card or timetable, or from the Guidance Office
