Scholarships and Bursaries

Anytime the guidance office is notified of a scholarship or bursary opportunity for graduating students, we post it on the scholarships and bursaries page…. take a look at the menu on the left side of the page. This list is kept updated throughout the school year, but only contains scholarships and bursaries for which we receive information from the donors / sponsors.

There are many, many more scholarships and bursaries available. Check with your parents’ employer and read the websites for the university or college for which you are applying. Also check websites like yconic.com and studentscholarships.orgScholarships Canada¬†and there are many others out there. The money is there; you just have look for it.

Full Disclosure, course drops and the grade 11 / 12 transcript

Since 1999, the Ontario Student Transcript reveals all Grade 11 and 12 courses attempted, including those failed, dropped or repeated.

Therefore, students must be careful to meet the deadline (one week after distribution of mid-semester report cards) to drop a course from their timetable. Failure to meet this deadline will result in a course remaining on the Ontario Student Transcript and thus part of the student’s permanent record.

Please note that all students are expected to remain full-time (minimum three classes per semester) throughout the school year.

Experience Ontario

Attention graduating students who are not going to university, college or an apprenticeship and not returning to Madill next year…

Consider applying to Experience Ontario, a government funded program that could get you a career coach, a possible paid employment placement, and help with applying to postsecondary opportunities. If this sounds interesting to you, come to guidance or see Mrs. Finch in the office. The deadline is coming up quickly, so find out more today!

More information is also available at www.edu.gov.on.ca/studentsuccess/ExperienceOn.html .
